the 3D stuff is still a bit gimmicky, don't really like it and some people get bad side-effects from it.

PS Vita is quite expensive, but i think it's fine. I have a DS and a PSP, and the PSP is by far my favourite.

If you want my attention, quote meh! D: or just stick an @samcool55 in your post :3

The 3DS simply has more awesome games. The Vita is more powerful, but that doesn't matter when there are like 6 worthwhile games for it

Pokemon, Zelda, Super Smash Bros, Animal Crossing, Mario Kart etc

INTEL CORE I5 4670K | NVIDIA GTX 980 | NOCTUA NH-L9i | GIGABYTE GA-Z97X-SLI | KINGSTON 120GB V300

CM STORM QUICKFIRE TK | BENQ XL2420TE | ROCCAT SAVU | FRACTAL DEFINE R4

if you include the 2DS, then nintendo. I prefer the games for it, and I grew up with the GBA and original DS, so i couldn't go against it so long as I can still play old DS games, which I can.

PSP 1001 or 2002/2000  Pandora battery (1001 only) and flash to CFW with selectable loaders and hardware clock rate.

Buy a 32GB SD card and compress a shitton of ISO files to CSO and go to town.

Nothing else in my mind is worth buying in terms of portable gaming, I would pick neither of the choice you listed. If you don't want to do that then stick to Android or something.

The 3DS is the better choice, cheaper and with a better game library. The Vita Packs more power but that doesn't necesarily make it better. Games make a system, not specifications. Also a lot of the Vita games are available on console which is one of the systems flaws, console games are best played on consoles so why would you choose to buy it on Vita? Some would argue portability but portable games are not the triple A ports that you get on the Vita, there fun games that are designed for quick bursts when your on the train, bus or the back seat of a car. If I was you I'd go for the 3DS XL, gotta love that screen realestate. Plus as mentioned above, you can play DS games on the system meaning there is a masssive game library.

this is the reason why i'm holding back in buying the VITA because some of the games in there is playable at my PC or console.

I'm not saying the Vita doesn't have good games because it does. The problem is when you weigh up the ammount of good games on the platform, the 3DS will always win because it has more developers catering to it.

Why not nvidia Shield portable or shield tablet?

This ^ The only reason why you should go with the Nintendo 3ds xl is the Nintendo/Japanese exclusive titles.

That and you can also put a whole bunch of emulators on it and play every 8/16 bit console game ever made. That's what I do with my PSP.

Between the two I'd go 3ds.

The reason? Pokemon. And the rest of the larger game library.

Vita's game library in the EU at least is pathetic. Ignore the 3DS and go for the 2DS instead.

I have to say this every time there's a console debate:

Sony systems and exclusives are a long-time fav of mine and I was ready to defend the Vita to my grave.

Sorry, Vita, but you're terrible.

3DS has a much better library, the 3D effect looks great in most games, and I CAN PUT ONE IN MY POCKET. EVEN THE XL.

Vita is lackluster in all respects save the graphics (which look great). Buy one if Persona 4 Golden is a system seller for you.

Buy the 3DS XL if Mario 3D Land, Etrian Odyssey, Persona Q, Pokemon, Legend of Zelda, and many many more games are system sellers for you. (And the 2DS is disgraceful. Just get a refurbished 3DSXL, only costs $10 more than a 2ds)

Sony, you done goofed. Good thing the PS4 isn't a pile of garbage.

Git Gud.

They are both great. But the 3ds has nintendo first party goin for it. Sadly Sony seems to be sweeping first party for the vita under the rug. Touting it as an extension of the ps4. But the vita does have some damn good indie games!

Nvidia Shield if you have a large back catalogue and the capability to make backups for emulation, is definately worth considering.

Otherwise 3DS > Vita.

Vita has better hardware, sure, but there is very little in the way of software, there's some indie content but it's all stuff thats been on PC for years and can be had for pennies on the dollar. 3DS has tonnes of great first party games, including weird and interesting games like Luigis Mansion, plenty of good RPG's, platformers, adventure games, visual novels, Theatrythm, etc.

I love my Vita but I frankly used it for a few of the good launch titles, a few indies, and Killzone, and haven't bothered since. My 3DS has been consistently in use since I picked it up on the XL launch day.

I'm taking the PSVita just for the JP exclusive games that come on the platform...

I'm thinking of buying a PS TV (A Vita in Console Form) and SAO + a few other games on the Vita that I like...

Call me a fanboy but I've got a PS1, PS2, and PSP with me... One of my childhood dreams was to get every PS console released...

I owned both of them and will say the 3ds is the better one. didn't really use the 3d effects that much since it hurt my eyes and drain battery but the graphics aren't really that far behind like most say, especially games like R.E. Revelations, though i had to say the Vita's oled screen is pretty impressive. Speaking of the Vita's touch screen, i still hadn't seen a game utilize it that much, as well as its very gimmicky rear touch pad. I also had a better experience with the 3ds' circle pad than the Vita's thumb sticks. And of course the games. The 3ds' game library just can't be touched by the Vita's. I mean they couldn't even get monster hunter on the vita..

The one in bold... It's given Nintendo complete monopoly of the handheld market since Pokemon Red/Blue

The PS Vita might be the better piece of hardware... it's just missing one small, tiny thing. Games I actually want to play. And, games I want to play when I'm out and about with friends

It boils down to the same question it should always boil down to. What content are you into?

Other than that the only objective measure is content ratings and sales, and there the 3DS wins:

Metacritic above 90:

3DS: 7, Vita: 2

Million Sellers:

3DS: 30, Vita: 3

Sales by region, NA/EU/JAP:
3DS: 12mill/12mill/16mill

Vita: 1.8mill/2.6mill/3.1mill

Games in top 40 US pre-order charts:

3DS: 3, Persona Q, Pokemon, Smash

Vita: 0

Fools think they know everything, experts know they know nothing
