I want one of those monitors too but they're not available yet. I think your G750JZ could run it smoothly as the 880m is based on the GTX 770. Plus the 880m has G-sync which is one of the main reasons to buy an rog swift pg278q. It should be fine :)

I doubt it will run that smoothly it's a 880(M) on a 1440p screen.

Not necessarily. It's max GPU horsepower, being an 880M, is on part with say a 770?

It should run ok. I'd normally recommend more gpu power to run 1440p but g-sync supposedly works its magic best at 40-60 fps.

You won't get 60+ fps on maximum settings, but that's exactly what G-Sync is made for so...

Smooth? As smooth as it can be thanks to G-Sync...

Your GTX 880m will definately be the bottleneck

Yes, marketing...

It supports a 4k monitor, doesn't mean that there will be any sensible amount of fps when gaming ;)

true but isnt that what the G-sync is for?

Yeah it is. It should be fine as g-sync works best at 40-60fps

There is a difference with "supporting 4k" and "gaming 4k".  Just because a monitor has G-sync doesn't give you reliable gaming performance on a higher resolution.  If your GPU can't even push 30fps on a 4k monitor, G-sync would be considered useless.  That was a marketing statement for people to assume it could run 4k gaming, which reliably it can't.

Lol if an 880M is anything similar to a 770 then it cannot drive many games at 144 fps at 1440p

Spoiler

i5 4670k, GTX 970, 12GB 1600, 120GB SSD, 240GB SDD, 1TB HDD, CM Storm Quickfire TK, G502, VG248QE, ATH M40x, Fractal R4

Spoiler

i5 4278U, Intel Iris Graphics, 8GB 1600, 128GB SSD, 2560x1600 IPS display, Mid-2014 Model

Spoiler

All the parts are here, just need to get customized cords to connect the motherboard to the front panel.

They're good for anything other then gaming, plus you can always downscale to 1440p or 1080p when playing games, just won't look as good as a native 1440p or 1080p monitor.

I thought I'd throw this out there. The ASUS ROG Swift PG278Q seems to utilise quite a good colour accurate TN panel according to TFT Central. Although I guess for $800 - $1,000 you'd kind of expect that. However, in spite of that I would go for the PA279Q because it's about the same price and utilises an IPS panel. :)

But does it have a 144hz refresh rate? And G-sync? There is no better option between TN or IPS, it's simply a trade off.

No. But I am not a gamer instead a video editor and so I don't need those features. I think this is a very subjective thing. I'm not trying to start a debate it's just my preference like you would have yours. If you would go with the PG278Q then I'm happy for you. :)

Yeah sorry didn't mean to sound like I was arguing, I've already pre ordered the PG278Q but could arrive as late as the end of next month. I've always found frame rate to be the most important, I tried the PB278Q but ended up selling it cause the 60hz wasn't enough.

No worries mate. Tis all good. Text doesn't really showcase a persons true emotions so things can often be taken the wrong way.

Well you should do a review of it once you had it for a bit and let everyone know what you think. I would love to read it if you did. :)

I've always found frame rate to be the most important,

Well this is something I don't get, however, I'm not a gamer so it wouldn't really concern me. To me, if I could run a game smoothly at 25-30fps I'd be happy :).

That would be fine if there was a proper motion blur, like in movies...

Sadly for games, there isn't, there is motion blur but it's inaccurate so our brains don't interpret it like with a movie...

That's why we all want higher framerates for games.

(Games could make a proper motion blur, it'd be taking too much time however...)
