Been Folding @Home for a week straight now. How long do you fold?

Been folding for 7 days now non stop, I will be attending college again this year leaving my desktop on for the time I'll be gone. So long as everything will go correctly It will be folding @home 24/7 for almost a year. Actually it will be a year counting the time I have until school starts.

GG on power bill.

I don't think an overclocked CPU to 4.8ghz will last a whole year. (if you're using the rig in your sig)

I may take it off 100% after I get a badge and just do it when I'm watching a movie or something.

how much does will it add to the power bill? I've been folding 24/7 too, and i'm afraid my mom will kill me when she sees the power bill.

Mine only adds 80 and I leave my 2 24'' monitors on too.

is that /month or /quarter?  Some places even charge every six months...

Also depends on the price of electricity.  If you're folding in South Dakota like your location states, it's probably extremely cheap.  Go downtown NYC and see what the price of a KW/H is.

It doesn't matter anyways for me at least I make enough to live comfortably. But if you live under your parents roof they might.

i think my record is 2 or 3 months with no issues, i can't see a machine folding for a year without running into any problems whatsoever, it usually goes fine but might need some attention every 4 months or so depending on what happens, a fuse may pop, power grid fails, may get bad work units.. lightning strike cause loss of power.... alot can happen in a year.

Yea, I will still live in my house so I can monitor the thing every so often to make sure there are no issues.

I live alone. I will be there every night to sleep. Plus I have a nice yard and no trees so if it did catch fire it would stay contained to my yard lol

I'm not sure. I know this is the max power draw of my psu. 750watt x 24 x 30= 540 KW/H x .10=$54 MAX

your system probably draws less than 400 watts honestly, could guesstimate around 400 possibly because the psu isn't 100% efficient, but it's probably a fair bit lower.

I know I was just showing that there is no way it could add more than $54

Hopefully your cooling can keep up.  Also, you should put it in a large room to ensure it always has fresh air.
