Unlocked 20th anniversary Pentium overclocking potential (Haswell refresh)

I'm thinking of getting this CPU when it comes out in September to have some fun with it while waiting for Broadwell to come out in the spring of next year. It will be dual core 3,2ghz with no hyperthreading and 53W of TDP. I'm just interested to see what you guys think will be it's overclocking potential. I really hope to beat the performance of the more powerful i3s or even the lesser i5s like the 4430. I'm thinking that it'll easily hit 5GHz on air. What do you guys reckon?

it wont beat an i5 maybe i3 ,5ghz on air probably not. Just get a i5 and enjoy it.

I think 5 on air is to optimistic. Possibly 4.5 an a good chip and a great cooler like the dark rock pro 3.

It will beat the i3 in some titles, of course the lack of hyperthreads is bit of a problem but nothing major, no need to cry.....yet.

Well I'm going to be getting 2 and probably a z97 soc to go with them so I will let you guys know how that goes

now were going to see pentium dual core vs 8350 threads with people pointing at a few select singled threaded games benchmarks proclaiming intel the winner. so much for SMT and the future.
if its £30/$40 it makes sense for private minecraft servers so game on.

Or for people like me that still play ancient RTS games that use 1 core

Nah, I wanna wait for the 14nm greatness. + I wanna jump on an i7, and I don't see a point of getting the 4790K. The Pentium is something that I just wanna play around with while I wait for Broadwell. And of course to play some of the new games, cause my Q8200 is not able to keep up.

I really do think that 5Ghz is not that optimistic. It's a dual core after all. Last year's i7s were easily getting to 4.5ghz. I expect the Devil's Canyon models to overclock like crazy. And I have high hopes especially for the Pentiums. I hope 5Ghz on air to be feasible.
