Problems with my neighbors vista computer

Gustav

Ok so my neighbors vista laptop cannot connect to the internet through both wireless and wired. When i try and connect wired it will not receive any packets from the router, and wireless tells me that it has connection but with limited access which basically means that i cant access the internet at all. Someone please put in some new things that i can try to fix it.

Can you try and ping to your router?

open cmd and type ipconfig

- look at the IP of the Default Gateway.

- next type ping [gateway ip]

If this doesn't work:

Check your network adapter drivers and your TCP/IP settings.

If there's a static IP given, check the box for DHCP.

If you don't know how to do this just reply to this post. It's kinda late so I don't have much time explaining it all.

Hope this little tip helps.

Will it work with your router?

Compatible with Windows 95

Mmm what is the IP of the gateway/router and what IP is the PC getting?

Can try refreshing IP from CMD by typing ipconfig /release and then ipconfig /renew

Sounds like your router isn't handing out IPs
