Best sub $120 PSU?

VG Docs
Go to solution Solved by quan289,

I'm planning on Xfiring my 6950 with another one, and I want to get the best PSU for my price range.

I don't know a whole lot about PSUs though, so I'm asking on here.

Here are a few I'm looking at:

CX-750 @ $79.99

Hive-750 @ $79.99

XFX Pro 750 @ $91.24

CS750M @ $119.99

Capstone 750 @ $120.14

M12II-850 @ $109.99

EVGA Supernova 750w G2 = $104.99 with a $15 rebate which effectively makes it a $89.99 PSU. http://www.ncixus.com/products/?sku=94405&promoid=1070

It's a based on the high-end Super Flower Leadex design. You are getting a PSU that is among one of the best in the market currently, in which superior than all of the unit you are looking at, and it offers a 10 year warranty (remember to register your product).

Personally, I say go with the RM750. It's 80+ Gold, Modular, and by Corsair, who make solid as hell PSUs (and everything else for that matter)

http://www.amazon.com/Corsair-80PLUS-Gold-Certified-Power-Supply/dp/B00EB7UITQ/ref=sr_1_4?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1398371412&sr=1-4&keywords=ax760

Right now it's on sale on Amazon for $119, which if you look through, is the same exact price as the RM650. Definitely a good deal.

If you want to spend less, go with the CX750M.

I looked it up, and that PSU seems to have a lot of really good reviews. It's really better than the Seasonic M12II-850 though?

Yes, the G2 is better than the mid-range M12II Bronze platform of Seasonic. If you want to get a Seasonic unit that is on the level of the G2, you would need to look at the Seasonic Platinum / KM3 design, which will cost more than the EVGA I had suggested.

Alright, I got paid today. Since I've got a haswell CPU (4670k), should I look for PSUs that say "Haswell Ready", or should I go ahead and pull the trigger on the EVGA Supernova G2 since the price offer expires tomorrow?

As long as the unit is an independent regulation or has DC-DC (which the Supernova G2 does), it will be "Haswell Ready". So yes, go ahead and pull the trigger on the G2.

Alright, well I finally got it for a total of $106.56 (w/ shipping insurance).

Thanks for your help :), now I just hope the MIR will take.
