Still the ever present question: Will I have to repay for a game I already own to play it?

The answer should be no.

If you want backwards compatibility you could just buy all your games on PC and never have to worry about weather or not a game will run on your version of OS. Because there is a fix for pretty much every game out there.

To be honest I can't think of any console exclusive games that I actually want to play. I mean PC has so many more exclusives then console it is stupid. We probably have more exclusive games then the entire library of PS3 and PS4 games put together. That is just a guess though but PC has been around for quite a long time.

I got the jest of it (and really grow the fuck up guys French isn't that different from English, sure you wouldn't be able to pronounce it worth shit but you can easily understand it in written form) but what I don't understand is streaming from where? Sony has PS3 server farms in the cloud, do you need to have a PS3 to stream from? I think I remember they talked about the first option I mention but I'm not sure.

  • WipEout HD

How I wish Firesprite (formely Studio Liverpool) would make a new WipEout game for PC.

They'll stream you the game. No need for a PS3. At E3 they showed that Playstation now would be available on multiple platform.

If only PC was in that list so I could play my beloved WipEout ;)

Except on the PS2 and PS3 of course...wait it's almost like the opposite, for Sony it has always been free. Well fuck it, happy non-birthday to you!

You obviously know little about Sony's legacy support history.

Except on the PS2 and PS3 of course...wait it's almost like the opposite, for Sony it has always been free. Well fuck it, happy non-birthday to you!

While the PS3 didn't support PS2 games (depending on which one you bought) and the support made the console more expensive, Sony is the type of company I would expect to do this.

The reason I say it should be possible is because it would be simple to enforce. The PS4 reads blu-rays. It could read a PS3 (blu-rays), 2 (DVDs), or 1 (CDs) game. As long as the game is in the console, the service should be able to verify the fact you own it and thereby let you stream that game so long as the disc was in the console.

The obvious response to that is "Piracy". Point me to where I can burn PS3 games and play them in my PS3. I don't believe you can short of having a modded PS3 already. And at that point it's pointless to fight it because those who go that far can basically get whatever they want and play it.

My point is that there is no legitimate reason imo for us to not be able to put a PS3 game in our PS4 and have PS Now stream it to us as long as we have all the other requirements (be on PSN, the game be on PS Now, etc).

There's a technical reason: changing the architecture means that the PS4 hardware would have to emulate PS3 hardware to play games as is. Mind you this is not a legitimate reason: It's Sony's own fucking fault for using non-standard architecture for the PS3, and in the past there were nice enough to include previos-gen hardware to facilitate this (like you said, certain PS3 models) but still, technically you can see why is not easy. But again I'm not justifying them: fuck em for using the cell they should have been x86 since the previous generation.
