Display has to be power-cycled after inactivity?

My main displayport dell monitor (S2417DG) has to (and has always had to) be power-cycled after my computer has put the displays to sleep for a while. If it is not power cycled then it is not detected and does not light up. Any suggestions as to how I could fix this? It's really annoying as it messes up my desktop icons and windows that I have open.

What you can try , not do the sleep mode, but shut the monitor off, after a set idle time .

 

You can do that in -- setting -- system  -> power and sleep <--  for  Windows 10

And

Control panel --system and security--> power option <-- in windows 7

 

There will be some noise, fans and stuff. and your system will be on 24/7.
