What graphics card should I get if ...

Antoine Kamarovszki

...I want GTA V to run at 2560x1080 OR 1920x1080 - i got an ultra wide monitor but I can use 16:9 mode as well so keep that in mind, all graphics settings on ultra with x8 MSAA (this is important) and high resolution shadows off.

My FPS target is: Minimum of 24 and a maximum of 28-30. (I find 60 fps weird in GTA V. It makes aiming much easier though but I don't care about it. I want movie-like FPS values such as 24 minimum and 28 maximum. So nah, 60 fps not needed).

(I want x8 MSAA because yes I can see a difference even between x4 and x8, bite me. I really do see a difference - and x8 MSAA makes the game look much better. I sit relatively close to the monitor, so MSAA matters to me.)

My rig:

MOBO: Gigabyte Z97X Gaming 7

CPU: i5-4460 3.2GHZ

RAM: 32GB 1600MHZ DDR3

PSU: Corsair CX430W

STORAGE: some SSD

current graphics card: gtx-750 ti (it's bad)

Thanks.

I don't know how can you not want at least 60 fps but okay.... What is your budget?

GTX 1060 6GB is a good choice for your needs.

To be an expert is to know more about less.

1060 6b, 580 8gb and higher I would say.

if you have some more money, a 1070 ti is great!

and maybe a 4770k or 4790k would be nice

I'm not gonna bite you lol, I can see the differences too between 2x, 4x and 8x MSAA. MSAA enabled makes grass looks really nicer than when MSAA is disabled.

You'd be looking for 1070(Ti) for the resolution 2560x1080 but for 24FPS I think 1060 is fine too.

However, 60FPS is needed for GTAO or else you'll be molested big time by douchebags from their malicious Broomstick Mk2's and or Deluxo's or penguin snipers.

Okay so in average y'all suggested me to grab 1070. Might just do that, thank you all! I watched some YT videos about that card. Dude had almost identical setup, was almost like mine except he had 1070 and he got ~30-32 fps with x8 MSAA and ultra 1080.

that cpu's relatively weak, time to look at a used 4790k, thats alot of ram, so it's a pain to upgrade to ddr4, if you can get a 4790k for cheap, thats as big as the gpu.

Well, you could go higher if you want, like 1080Ti. But it depends on your maximum budget.
