Generating Electricity off a Skateboard

So...

I am currently in Year 11 of Secondary School and I am building a skateboard that generates electricity when it is used that can then be used to provided electrical assistance for my project.

Any suggestions on how do wire this us and what components I will need?

Cheers

I mean, if its your project aren't you meant to be working that out yourself...

Its quite simple really, dynamo to wheel, wire that to a rectifier and then something like a dc to dc converter/ variable voltage charge controller and then to a battery.

a skateboard thrives on being efficient at rolling

a dynamo will slow the board down thus making it less preferable

even tightening a boards wheels just slightly makes it a burden to try and use.

you might want to attach a dynamo to something with more mass like a bike

I am currently playing with a RoboClaw motor controller that has features such as regenerative braking.  This along with a brushed motor and batteries may be a good option for you.

I believe "LED" skateboard wheels exist. You could grab one of those and try to take the power from it. Or you could bolt an old school bike dynamo to the board and have it contact the wheel and take that power.

Like one of these.

I will warn you, this'll likely make it next to impossible to ride the skateboard anywhere but going downhill. Even on a bike they only kick in at 10ish MPH.
