Building my first PC, I've only really ever had prebuilt systems and I'd like to get into building my own for more experience.

 

I just want to be able to game at 120+ FPS and also have background apps open, such as Discord.

are we talking about 120+ FPS in 720p here and in which games exactly?

 

for that price you are lucky to get stable 60 FPS in any resolution over 720p

That was around a ballpark estimate, anything over 60FPS is fine also!

Specify games you are playing/wanna play cause you might run in to some issues even trying to reach 60 stable. In games like maybe World of tanks you might even get 120 fps, but in others you might not even get 50.

Fortnite, CSGO is all I really play, and even then, I play on competitive settings, like Fortnite's which is all low, shadows high and View Distance Epic.

 

I play CSGO currently at Medium with High shadows since there isn't much difference between Medium and High.

With a 750Ti and some garbage CPU I average around 40-60FPS on CSGO, however Fortnite is extremely laggy with stutters etc.

You are exaggerating and you know it. In games he will be playing he should reach 60 fps stable, if not he can lower the settings and it will reach 60 stable.

I liked this build, and just ordered the Case, the only question I have is, will the CPU work with the Mobo out of the box?
