MasterLiquid ML120L RGB

Greetings,

I have an i5 8400, aero cool cylon (https://www.aerocool.com.tw/en/chssis/pgs-v/cylon) and a MSI H310 pro m2.

I know i dont need an IAO but I just want it for looks and rgb (air coolers are too bulky).

Do this IAO (http://www.coolermaster.com/cooling/cpu-liquid-cooler/masterliquid-ml120l-rgb/) work for me, in terms of:

-Space and placement on case.

-ports to pump and fan.

-RGB conectors? This IAO has a controller so, i do´nt need USB ports, only one sata from PSU. Is this correct? People from the store said It doesn´t work for me cuz I need a "software", I do´nt think so.

-Evething else in order to work.

Thanks.

Don't ever buy anything just for looks, the stock cooler will be enough for this CPU.

You don't 'need' RGB.

you dont 'need', you 'want', RGB.

Be careful when using it, Gamers Nexus broke the 240mm variant when screwing the fans down onto the radiator

Sometimes these 'wants' in life don't make sense and this is one of them, totally overkill and pointless for the 8400.

Op asked if it would work for his chip. The answer to that is YES. He didn't ask for you to scold him on the whole need vs want argument. He also didn't say he needed you to try to convince him not to get it. His whole point was to confirm it will work for his needs and it WILL.

So YES op, that cooler will be enough to handle your cpu.

You don't have a point. For some people aesthetics are important and there is NOTHING wrong with that. If op wants to spend HIS money on something like this and has the means then it isn't a bad choice even if you think it is pointless or overkill.

I am about to be leaving for the day so I won't be able to get to these questions, but it should definately fit on your case all you need is a 120mm fan and chances are you have at least 120mm as an exhaust fan. I would just set it up there so it is close to the cpu.

As to the RGB setup I am not sure. The controller could be one that you can adjust the lighting from it.. or it could just be one that connects to a USB header and control it via software in windows. The software though would be downloadable from the manufacturer so that shouldn't be an issue.

Well think about it this way. let's say I have a base model Vauxhall Corsa and want the highest end set of tyres for it, let's say these tyres cost £500 a piece so that means for 4 I'll be spending £2000 alone for the tyres plus whatever the fitting/labour costs are. When I tell anyone that I have done this they are going to say "you're crazy, a pure mad man" and I could say back "well it's my money so I can do whatever i like with it" but at the end of the day they are right since they are overkill for the vehicle and they are a pointless use of my money. That money was worked hard for but at a click of a finger I've basically poured it down the drain when there was no reason for it.

Here is the thing. Just because that is someone's opinion doesn't make it right. Is it the most cost effective option in your scenario NO. The thing is if YOU think it is worth the money and YOU are happy with it... then that is all that matters. Could you have gotten cheaper tires sure, but if you weren't happy with those tires then what is the point?

I have a nice Ford Edge, but chose to buy a really nice BWM X5. Does that mean I needed it? No, I was just fine with what I had, but I WANTED it. Does that mean it was a bad investment? NO, it doesn't. I think the interior is much nicer and overall really enjoy my time driving/riding in it. What is the point in life if we can't treat ourselves to some of our WANTS. If we have the means and aren't going to burden ourselves financially then I see nothing wrong with it.

So if OP wants a more aesthetically pleasing cooler that makes him happy/smile every time he looks at his PC... then I think that is money well spent.
