Can someone help me?

Right, I originally made a post about a "CPU" Bottleneck and was suggested to upgrade to a better CPU. So i did, i upgraded from an i5 6500 to a Ryzen 5 1600 as i got it for a discounted price and i thought that would fix my 50% GPU usage max in my games but still no luck. I tried playing fortnite at max settings as i previously tested and to my surprise i'm having similar results and can not play any game with a GPU usage higher than 50% i play at 1920x1080 @60hz.

I seriously can not figure it out and would love some advice and help from you.

Ryzen 5 1600

8gb DDR4 @2666

GTX 1080 FE

Is your PC's power plan set to high performance or balanced?

When gaming can you pull up task manager, details tab, find the game.exe file right click and set priority to HIGH and see if that forces the GPU to more usage?  Maybe this will narrow it down to a software issue?

 

Also - can you download Unigine Heaven and run a benchmark should force the GPU usage to 100% to ensure it does work?

It wont allow me to set it to high priority it says acess denied

That is because single thread wise the i5 6500 is actually superior to that  of a stock Ryzen 5 1600 while 4 cores still does the job fine enough.

 

The reality here is that you never upgraded you simply sidegraded, kinda never made sense what you did, I'd personally have just picked a second hand i7 7700 to max out the GTX 1080.

It'd be a shame finding out that the i7 7700 heavily outperforms the Ryzen 5 1600 on Adobe Premiere and Sony Vegas due to iGPU hardware acceleration and quicksync igpu streaming is a thing.

 

Moral of the story is, do a better research before buying stuff, best you can do is learn now how to overclock the CPU to its maximum and the Memory also, make sure your OS is healthy and go on with it.

Thats besides the point, it should be using 100% usage most of the time regardless of the unless it cannot handle it

You clearly need so much to learn if you expected your ryzen 6 cores to be at 100% usage on gaming alone.

Did you download Unigine Heaven and run a benchmark?  That should force 98+% usage.

its 98-99% usage and win 10 unactivated itself after changing cpu and mobo

What monitor - if your GPU doesn't need to be going any faster than it is, why would it?  You sound like you have zero environment control in Windows 10 (Im sitting here staring at a Watermark on my bottom right as well.) with priorities, UAC, etc.  If you cant do those things I doubt you can set your power settings as well?

This will be my guess before I would say its a software issue and you didn't reinstall windows 10 with this CPU and mobo change (watermark, so didn't activate or didn't reinstall) - next thing I would say is reinstall Windows 10, clean drivers etc.

on the nvidia panel i set it to prefer maximum performance didnt realise there was one for windows too

So let me help you - what monitor, and have you set Windows 10 power plan to Performance?

 

I only have like 10 minutes before my wife is going to tell me to get off the PC lol

 

So reinstall Win 10, fresh drivers, game etc, that's what I would do to completely eliminate any outlier issues.
