I am building a PC (to join the mighty PC master race!) and my max budget is $550. ****PLZ REMEMBER**** I am aussie so I mean $550 AUD not USD.  I believe $550 is about $400 American. I just wanna see if anyone has any tips to make sure I don't waste my money on a pointless part or something. I am basically getting everything off Amazon and ebay. Here is my build:

CPU Intel Core 13 - 8100 = $129.79
MOBO Gigabyte H310M = $55.00
GPU ZOTAC GTX 1050 Ti OC 4GB = $120.00
RAM Corsair Vengeance LPX  DDR4 8GB = $90.00
HDD Western Digital 1 TB = $50.00
CASE Thermaltake Versa H18 Glass = $44.18
PSU MasterWatt Lite 500W =$47.00

= $537-ish.

Looks fine. I'd try and fit in an SSD, they're quite cheap now.

A pretty good selection though I think you could equally competent PSUs for cheaper(32$or so), you won't save much but you could use that for good fans and thermal paste.

Another alternate path is getting a Ryzen 1600 or 2600 for around 159$ and a B350M Motherboard for around 45$ to 60$. You would get 6 cores and 12 threads for just 30$ more and also a better stock cooler with OC capabilities.

How much would shipping be on Amazon?

You should consider an AMD build, a Ryzen 3 2200g is 100$ on Amazon, it's cheap these days. i3-8100 is $130

Boards with b450 chipset are 50-60$

Could take the 30$-ish and go for a RX 570, you can find some for $160 on Amazon. Performance wise should be between gtx 1050ti and gtx 1060, maybe faster in some games than gtx 1060

psu is kinda crappy, go for something wth gold efficency, seasonic, corsair, evga etc etc

Any SSD's you recommend?

For ssd's, I would recommend the samsung 860 evo 250gb as a boot drive and to have some primary programs so theyll run faster.

For psu's, look for something in the corsair CXM lineup.

I ended up getting a Kingston A400 120GB as it will fit my requirements nicely, and for a PSU I got a Corsair CX Series 650w

too late I guess but you went with some stuff that in my opinion is a little spotty. The a400 is kinda slow for an ssd especially since SSD's are at their speed limit.

The cx will probably be fine but there are better choices

Depends what your budget is. For most people an MX500 or something like that is more than enough.

From some of my friends opinions it will work fine for my PC considering my entire setup is about $750 AU

Well you have to be careful about cheap ssds. It's not just speeds that will be slower but there will be other things.

Can @MandoPanda please explain?

It's true. Cheap SSDs most of the time are cachless. This means that they will not perform as fast and will die quicker than an SSD with a cache. You can click on the link in my signature talking about 'why to stay away from cheap SSDs' if you would like further explanation.

You really should just spring for an EVO because they are cached and cheap. M.2 version:https://au.pcpartpicker.com/product/G9rmP6/samsung-860-evo-250gb-m2-2280-solid-state-drive-mz-n6e250bw

Thanks for letting me know I hadn't noticed that the one I was getting had no cache. Life saver <3. What do you think of a WD Blue 1TB PC Hard Drive - 5400 RPM Class, SATA 6 Gb/s, 64 MB Cache, 3.5" - WD10EZRZ?

My pleasure. That WD is okay, but a little slow. Try to find one that is 7200rpm if it can fit into your budget. Seagate Barracuda is also a good choice.

I just realised the only ones with a cache is a HDD. Are HDDs and SSDs the same thing? Cuz I already have a HDD and was told to pick up also a SSD. I aM cOnFuSiOn!

If you mean a WD Blue SSD, unfortunately those are also cacheless. Check out the second link in my signature to watch a video. SSDs also have a cache (or rather they should if you want a good one).

Like I said before, if it says 'N/A' under the 'cache' section, it has no cache and therefore will perform slower and die quicker than an SSD with a cache.

Yes, still get an SSD with a cache.
