RTX or GTX

Can anyone help me which card should I pick. I want to play in 1080p /1440p at high settings mostly FPS, AAA Games

I am confused which one to buy 

RTX 2070 for $850, Founders edition for $750.

GTX 1080 for $680 .

GTX 1070Ti $750 (idk why 1070Ti & 2070   Founders edition priced same ) .

And there's a sale on GTX 1070 for $470. 1080Ti is too expensive for me it's around $1000.

I am not planning to upgrade it for 2-3 year at least. Thanks for your time !

Get the 1080, same perf in games as the 2070. Unless you really need to have ray tracing and DSLXX or whatever once games actually start supporting it, though that'll probs be a year or two and you can buy the next gen of RTX cards or wait for them to fill out the lineup.

Unless you are hard core gamer the 1070 should be good enough, to last you until the next upgrade.

The 1080 at 680 or the 2070 at 750 are the only real options tbh. Then it comes down to if the slight performance increace and new features are worth the higher price increace for the 2070.

For the price I'd say go for the 1070, especially if your 1440p monitor is 60hz.

The 1070 Ti costs more than the 1080, which performs better. Thus why I recommended the 1080. 

 

EDIT: Oh I see now, there was a normal 1070 as well. Disregard my comment.

I agree, if you go with the TI . The normal 1070 is 1/2 price, and good enough , for me anyway

GTX 1070ti performs almost exactly like a GTX 1080 and GTX 2070 is just a bit fasterr than a GTX 1080.

Given the huge price jumps the GTX 1070ti is the best value here while you will be barely sacrificing 20% performance at most before you OC.

1070ti is more expensive than 1080? Get 1080 then.

For me

 

Get the 1080 if you indent to keep the card a long as possible, and want best performance while gaming.

 

Get the 1070 if cost is a factor, and you want the next generation card, as they become more common in gaming.

 

My opinion. I am just a newbie, and I may be wrong.

If not very important to update I would say wait another few weeks.

Graphics card prices -at least here are beginning to fall:

 

Geforce GTX 1070ti $450

Geforce GTX 1080 $500

Geforce RTX 2070 $550

RTX 2070 Founders right now is $730

GTX 1070Ti Founders right now is $600

Seems like the main advantage to RTX is the 'it just works' ease of development.  in the past with GTX people would need to do tricks to make scenes look good.  Since almost nobody has RTX, game devs still need to put in the effort for GTX.  Also if recent RTX reviews are anything to go on you lose half the performance with RTX ON.  Customers don't care about amount of time developers spend on lighting.  It's not like RTX ON games will sell for $40, where as the RTX off version will sell for $60.  

 

So GTX 1080 before they run out.

I'd get the 1070 for 1080p and the 1080 for 1440p with that pricing scheme. Lots of 1070ti deals going on where I am but it doesn't seem to be the case for you.

I’ll say GTX if DLSS and RTX are on the far horizon 2-3 years away the new refreshed GPU will be out they need a refreshed line either way if this is the true performance of Ray-Tracing seen on BFV only thing worth it right now is DLSS but what game uses it?

What are you saying. “It just works” Ray tracing is a lot more complicated to implement and do it well than anything in the past 7 years.
