i am really confused now about the different ans from you guyz.. someone is telling that the 6950 is the same and some saying that it is not :(

Google HD7870 reviews, you should find 6950 in it as well. 
 

All these was before Catalyst 12.11 beta 8 which improved 7870 a.k.a 270x performance even more and the old 6000 series get nothing.

You could also go for a GTX 770 for ~$70 on US eBay which is slightly faster than a 280x

If u are talking about the size then they are almost identical but the vapor x has higher clock and memory
