You know police normally just contact Apple and have them send over what they need.

They can only access data that is on iCloud, anything local is not accessible to Apple or law enforcement at this point in time.

I did 30 seconds of googling so this could be wrong, but it seems like Apple does not have a recovery key for encrypted stuff in icloud?

"This means that only you can access your information, and only on devices where you’re signed into iCloud. No one else, not even Apple, can access end-to-end encrypted information."

There are certain requirements that must be met for them to unlock iCloud data - they don't have a backdoor key I don't think.

For Sale: Meraki Bundle

With the current state of our borders, it is ever more wiser to encrypt your data to keep it away from unauthorized peeps. More and more people will be posting pictures on faceplant, and being denied entry. But hey, we know what they eat for supper. I dont quite get that, its just that day in age. Look at me, sorry you cant cross the border. But I want to go to Disneyland with my entire family that we paid 5g for.

I think Apple is doing a wise move here.

Yes, people get denied based on web browsing info alone, as well as pictures, or just a single post of a single item of paraphernalia. Owning stocks.

Apple's sales will go higher now.

Even Pardons will not suffice, once they got your info, they have it forever. It is better to have access to 380M people then it is to 34M people.

I'm thinking he is referring to Custom's obsession with being able to access phones at the border without warrants.

Thought so but it's such a ramble I couldn't really make the meaning out, seems to just go all over the place...

Build a better mousetrap and they will build a better mouse.   50 shades of greykey will be back with an update or different product. If not them then someone else.

Grammar and spelling is not indicative of intelligence/knowledge.  Not having the same opinion does not always mean lack of understanding.

Apple has apparently won a victory in preserving the privacy of iPhone users.

That is a good thing for Apple, privacy is of utmost importance!
