How to enable instagram notifications

Had it working all fine and dandy but I deleted insta and redownloaded it now it doesnt pop up on my lock screen when I get a dm or whatever 

iPhone se on ios 12.0.1

On the Instagram app, go to your profile. Tap on the three lines (top right corner of the screen). A menu should pop up from the right— Look at the bottom of the menu. Tap on the "Settings" button. Scroll down until you see the "Notifications" sub-section, and tap "Push Notifications" to enable the ones that you want.
