So I’m building a Ryzen system as a get money and am considering buying a motherboard next on a Black Friday deal. Should I get something like a Ryzen 5 2600 or wait for Ryzen 3000 and see what the release. If I go with a B450 Am4 board will I have the same problem those buying a 2000 series cpu on a board like the b340 or x370 had with a bios update?

AMD's 3000 series is probably set to release mid 2019, so if you want to wait till then for a slight upgrade over a 2600, go for it, but the best money wise option is to get the 2600 at Black Friday or Cyber Monday

Idk when 3000 will come, seems a bit too long to wait. Settling for 2000 isn't exactly gonna disappoint you either. I just made a 3D modelling computer for solid works and the 2600 kicks ass.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

PSU tier list

How many watts do I need?

You should never build as you get money, you should save and build all at once. You're going to have outdated parts by the time you're finished.

I kinda completely agree

You can purchase case psu fans cables

Like stuff those aren't really going to do anything but can make you wish for something else

But recommend cpu mobo ram and/or gpu in one shot

But for small budget builds everything in one shot or small period of time

To op

What are you using now?

Eh, I dno. Depending on how long it takes (sounds like he's going to take quite a while) better options will likely come to market both case and potentially fan wise. Or the case you end up getting might not be the best for the fans you bought previously. Buying the entire build at once really is the best choice.

Cases really haven't changed much in last decade it's all user preference

Only thing i can think of is them adding rgb shit built in that's going to change

Along with Maybe ports

Psu wise in last decade they changed quite a bit but prolly at a stale mate too

Rgb and Maybe better efficiency cheaper now but not huge dollar breaker

Fans they evolved a little

Rgb taking over pick a company and go with it as long as it can move air

Haha, what? Cases have changed massively over the last decade.

suppose anything would be nice then

first build you should do in one shot though

after that you can do the upgrade leaps

like cpu ram mobo one yr

gpu next yr

psu case another yr

when you feel the need for each

I don't feel like I will spending a lot on upgrades personally because A. I don't plan to be a huge gamer in the coming years because I'm going to be college in the next few years where money will be tight. and B. because I am also a drummer which is also a pretty expensive hobby that will also get kind of expensive. And also I'm perfectly fine bumping down a few settings to play games I couldn't on my xbox in the coming years. But if its any consolidation I will probably be buying my cpu and motherboard together, but I do plan to probably get my memory last to try and wait out the price increases right now as much as possible. But thanks for the input though.
