WiFi standards getting renamed (free tech news topic)

I can’t post this right now in tech news but maybe someone else can... feel free to repost this there with the appropriate formatting

 

apparently they are naming the wifi standards to numbers “ie wifi 4 = wireless N” and wifi 6 is wireless ax

 

kinda dumb if you ask me but interesting:

Stop changing words!

but seriously, if I actually knew anything about Wifi, I wouldn't like having to re-learn it.

I don't see this serving any purpose to consumers since it doesn't change much.
