LTT Official Folding Month 2018!!!

Go to solution Solved by palespartan,

I figured I would take advantage of the fact this post hasn't been locked yet to spread the word about this years folding month.

Folding month 2019!!

See the thread for detail and don't forget to spread the word!!!

@leadeater you can now lock this one.

-Thanks

This thread and event is not helping me to keep my decision, not to buy new computer until 2019. So tempted to go with my plan of full AMD pc for a change, so that I could have one folding 24/7 and another for daily use. ?

I just made 80K off two WUs, that's more points done in a single day than the past five days. And my PC actually just finished a WU worth 70K which hasn't been updated to the database yet, damm.

The first step is admitting you have a problem.

Mind you, you likely will not get too much support here trying to curb your GAS (Gear Acquisition Syndrome).

Or you could find a gently used system with at least a dual-core processor running 2GHz or better and a PCIe2 x16 slot and use that for folding.

Last night I spent six hours trying to fix the sheet, for the most part it is fine and dandy but a few users numbers seem off and I can not work out why, when hes back online later I will see if @Gorgon can have a look and maybe he can fix the issue! The following four users have been identified as having under reported figures, @choccobear, @DUW1G1T, @D_Newb and @[REDACTED]@Yabdat. Guys, I'm sorry that I wasn't able to fix your numbers for this update and I am hoping Gorgon and come and find the elusive issue.

Alright, so I'm thinking about picking up a secondhand card to supplement some of my folding numbers. I'm looking at probably a GTX 750. Are there any other decent cards I should be looking at for under $100?

That’s pretty much why I bought my 3570K system lol, for extra PCIe slots.

Used 970. Don’t pay more than about $110 for even the best card though, but they’ll shit on anything else at the $100 mark. Maxwell cards are pretty good overclocker also so with a decent cooler you should be able to get a good OC and make it on-par or above a 1060.

Thanks for the input. I'll have to keep an eye out on some ebay listings to see if I can grab one cheap.

Just dug out an old 760 too, should have that running soon. My goal is to get a 1 million point day off some jankey old hardware.

Ive been looking at 960s for a bit less than 100$ hard to find 970s in that price range but would kick the ass out of most considering I get 350k out of mine.

3 on the same network shouldn't have any issue. F@H isn't network intensive at all just needs to download and upload WU's

There are some on Craigslist around me for $100-120, which with negotiation, maybe $20 less. IF I had enough PCIe slots I’d just buy a bunch of 970s lol. 350k PPD for $100 beats just about any other card out there, unless you can get a stupid baller deal on an R9 Fury

I have 7 systems running 9 slots. Gigabit network though some of the laptops are on wifi.

As others have said the downloaded file is likely under 100MB and the result file that's uploaded even smaller.

Yeah, 960's might be a better deal for me. The 970's I was looking through were decently more than $100.

Sadly there isn't anything worth buying around me on Craigslist, which is shocking considering the size of the city I live next to. Kinda regretting selling some of the cards I mined crypto on now.

Yes I have a problem, not enough folding power :)

But now that I think. I have mining motherboard that I never used, it has a celeron cpu. I need to check if its compatible with my router, might need to swap i5-3450 from my router to a celeron. I think there should be enough random pc parts lying around that I can get something to work. Still lack a second GPU but lets see if I get something to work first.

Hi there,

I have started folding but I didn't know there was a spreadsheet, and now I see that "registrations" are closed.

Will I still participate the lottery on December 1st?

Yes, the GPU giveaway is separate from the rankings here. This is for badges and bragging rights pretty much.

Some stats for you (cause I'm a stat whore)! According to EOC.....

  • 1996 - We currently have the most active users (by a factor of 2 ? )
  • 181 Million - Third in points per 24 hour average
  • 27.7 Million - Second in points over the last 3 hours
  • 674 Million - Second in points over the last week
  • We've been increasing our point production almost every day since the beginning of the month
  • We've already produced almost twice as many points as last month (1.9 billion so far)
  • At our current rate, we will produce approximately 1.5 Billion points in just one week (up from last weeks 981 million).
  • We've already produced more points than another other week in LTT history (I think (excluding last week)), and it's only been 3 days.
  • We made more points in the last 4 hours than I have in my entire folding career (not saying much though xD )
  • I will probably get into the top 100 this month; GTX 1080 raffle here I come!
  • At my current production rate, I will hit 1 billion points in 1 year and 5 months, give or take a couple weeks

Ok, the last two were my stats, but hey I like to brag, sue me.

This is insane! We've been putting out a crazy amount of points this month.

Well guys, thanks to Gorgon we can now confirm mall data on the sheet to be valid and the issues resolved! There has been some shifts in ranks due to the correction but I can confirm this should be the last time anything like this occurs as long as the data stays correct from Stanford.

Tomerrs is in first, as per usual with 87.1million points, King Poet in second with 73.2million and _Rlocke is in thirs with 59.5million. Jakkuh dropped to fourth with 55.8million and Gorgon holds onto fifth with 35.5million points. Ben Quigley finds himself sitting in 6th again with 31.1million points followed by Dissitesuxba11s being 800k behind his mark. Porina is in 8th with 28.2million followed by Palespartan with just shy of 25million points. Cereal5 is still the gatekeeper of the top 10 with 22.9million points.

In 11th we have Yabdat with 21million points, followed by DUW1G1T with a lag of 200k points or so. Then there's an opening of 3million points to Invaderzim in 13th. TVwazhere is behind him by 2 million. D_Newb and Powellji both have around the 14million mark. Willhemmens is in 17th with 13.5million, 15th is occupied by RollinLower with 13million. Cagedanimalz, and sazrocks both have just over 12million and take the 19th and 20th spots on the table.

If nothing else changes about production the table should stay pretty recognisable, @_Rlocke will move up into second, @Cereal5 will move up a spot, @DUW1G1T should push up a number of spaces.  Bit overall we should expect the next new updates to look quite similar to what we are seeing here.

Over the course of the month we track more data than what you see us present and one piece of data I would like to share... all points produced by the event participants as of this update officially add up to....

tenor.gif.903e9e65ae6519aba4146f879096159e.gif

The overall team has seen over 239million points of production over the last 24hours..

Please remember we have minimum participation requirements, these are 100k points, 15WUs, and 15 days of having activity over the course of the whole month.

Also, I just want to add that if we suspect you are purposefully just skimming the minimum requirements you may be disqualified. If we see you produce one WU per day for the last 15days for instance we may feel the need to investigate.

Thanks for everyone who is involved in this event,

Happy folding,

Ben.
