Worth the $50 increase? I7 CPU

Is the i7 8068k worth the extra $50 compared to the i7 8700k?

Depends. You get a slightly higher clocked, better binned chip. If you want to maximize your overclock, the 8086K may be worth it. If you don't want to OC much, get the 8700K. If you don't want to OC at all, get the regular 8700.

You probably won't notice the difference, just get the 8700K a good cooler and overclock it safely.

Not worth it, unless you just want to have an anniversary edition.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

 

How many watts do I need? ATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explained, group reg is bad

It's a 300 MHz difference in clocks out of the box, so it seems a significantly better binned chip. I'd probably get it for only $50 more if you're looking to game on a 144 Hz panel where you're going to be cpu bound often. If you're looking to game on a 60 Hz panel the value proposition seems dicier though.
