BlukyTheHusky

Hello,

I have bought a second hand Marantz SR6001 reciver 2 months ago and it keeps going in protect.

Things i have tried:

switching on without anything connected to it

switching on with diffrent power cords

its not overheating

it also happens when the speakers are turned off

what can i try to prevent this or am i better off getting a new amp?

There are a few things to check before I can answer your question.

First, what speakers are you using?

Shouldn't be anything wrong with your amp. Double check your connections on speaker and receiver. If you're using banana plugs, ensure they are fully seated properly.

Try a firmware update. Are you hooked up to the correct terminals?

i have build my speakers my own, using them for over a year now (worked fine the first few weeks when i used this amp)

Front and surround are running 8 ohms and are 70-80 watts RMS

Center is also running 8 ohms and can handle 130-140 watts RMS

I searched online and it seems your model might have issues with the temperature gauges. If you are technically inclined, you can replace the sensors on your own, or get in touch with customer service and see what they can do for you.

Call Marantz, D&M have pretty awesome customer service, especially on the Marantz product side. They take care of their customers.
