1080 mini or 1070 to?

martward

Hi all,

I'm planning a substantial upgrade of my PSU, GPU and monitor. I am doubting between getting zotac 1080 mini (€479), a Asus 1070 ti (€439) or possibly a inno3d 1070 to jet (€419).

I want to pair this with a 1440p monitor, either the Samsung LC27JG50 or the Acer nitro vg270u (144hz va and 75hz IPS respectively) depending on the reviews.

Any suggestions?

Cheers :)

Let me break each one down.

GTX 1070: The weakest performer out of all of them, but can be overclocked to match the performance of a 1070 TI.

GTX 1070 TI: The mid-range out of all 3, but can be overclocked to match the performance of a 1080.

GTX 1080: The strongest out of all of them, and can be overclocked to easily beat an OC'd 1070 TI.

If you're comfortable spending the money, go with the 1080.

Hope this helps!

mini is for the size of the cards, not as in minified performance.

1080 mini will perform as good as a regular 1080.

so if you think the price is good, then buy it.

buying mini cards has some good and bad.

good if you have small case, so it won't take more space.

bad because mini cards tend to be hotter than the normal sized cards due to the electrical connections are crammed so tight.

I pick the 1070ti.

1070 is completely out of the game at that price. It's a whole 20% slower than the 1070ti, and @m0n4rchyI have never seen a 1070 overclock that much further than a 1070ti at stock on air (which runs about 1800MHz under GPU boost 3 from Nvidia), not to mention when overclocked.

1080 is 5-8% faster than the 1070ti so it does match the price when performance is considered. However Zotac mini is a pretty bad card in noise levels, PCB components etc. As long as the Asus 1070ti isnt using a blower cooler, the 1070ti is better.

Depends on how much money you have. If you have enough, the 1080 will definitely be the best.

@Jurrunio @SupaKomputa @Finwillwin @m0n4rchy sorry the inno3d is also a 1070ti. I am also leaning towards the 1080, but I wasn't sure whether the better cooling on the Asus 1070ti would possibly give it an advantage.

Well if you're talking best bang for your buck then I believe it's the 1070 ti.

Overclocks to basically a 1080 stock. Mini 1080 will heat up quicker and hotter than the full sized 1070ti. If you OC the 1080 then it will only get hotter.

You're paying more for very little increase.

Are both 1070ti 3 fan models?

Price:performance those cards are basically all the same. The 1080 is about 20% faster than 1070, but it's about 20% more expensive. It's about 10% faster than 1070ti, but it's 10% more expensive.

No the inno3d is a blower and the Asus has 2 fans. I have a very hard time finding reviews on the 1070ti's.

So inno3d kicked out. What Asus 1070ti is that? They dont have a 1070ti dual fan card from what I can find.

1070ti is a hated model in its entirety to be honest. It's VERY often dubbed as the "non-needed" card because of where it stands. But then again it stands exactly where it should be, between a 1070 and a next gen 1080. lol. It's weird,

But yeah Asus makes some good quality. From those 2 brands I'd rather have the Asus card.
