Straight to the point i want a laptop that can do school work and i also want gaming, i would like a laptop with performance around a GTX 1050, i dont need a 1070 or 1080, i dont need RGB, i dont mind 768p but 1080p would be nice, ssd isnt needed and 1TB hdd minimum, i care mostly about performance and battery since i cant charge the laptop at school, 6 hours minimum

my budget is around 1200 AUD if possible, any recommendations? Thanks

For your price that's probably one of the best deals you could get, maybe some dell inspiron.

For a 1050TI laptop at that budget with good battery life there aren't many options but don't get that MSI not a good value for money.

I looked at newegg for Australia but the Dell G series is overpriced and same applies for new Omen series. Any other online retailers in Australia.

GeForce GTX 1060 3 GB GDDR5

you cant expect 6 hrs if you "game" on any laptops.

GTX 1060 3 GB is the bottom line here, stick with it, so may by higher version of this model for better ram/cpu

The 3GB VRAM is limiting and heat output is more than a 1050TI. Besides I don't think he will find a 1060 laptop in his budget.

this is the model in "Edit 2", so sure its in the budget

this is also a NON max Q model of GTX1060 3gb which is ideal for 1080p gaming on laptops.

to conclude, in no case a 1050ti 4gb can be better than 1060 3gb

A Lenovo Yoga 720 or 730 with 1050ti may give you 9-11 hours (advertised, no idea real world).

Check prices, and check specs near you. It also can use a pen, flips 360, so should be great for "college" (We all know you're gaming!!! ;) ). May not be the best gaming laptop, but it's snazzy, and it's possibly my next laptop, providing I sell my current one.

1. Impossible to get with that budget

2. It has 1050 not 1050TI

3. Yoga 730 15 actually has OKish battery life only

Yeah, 1050ti and battery life/luggability is a stretch and a half, in THAT budget. 2-3k and you can get a MS surface something or other... and a hole in your life! :D

anything is fine, im only concerned about the GPU and the battery, im thinking maybe i should get the acer aspire 5 with the i5 7200U and the 940mx or another aspire 5 with the MX150, the 940mx is like $200 cheaper tho idk, both are prolly fine, i would like casual gaming like maybe BF1 or games like that with lowered settings, CSGO, maybe just cause 4 w lowered settings if it allows, if not its fine cuz im hopefully building a rig with a 570, so yeah.

1. Dell G3 - AUD 1199

i5 8300H, GTX 1050 4GB, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD, low sRGB IPS

Around 6 hrs battery life with some stretch. OK-mediocre cooling that requires repaste+undervolt

2. Lenovo Legion Y530 - AUD 1179

i5 8300H, GTX 1050 4GB, 8GB 2666MHz RAM, 1TB HDD (upgrade SSD yourself), low sRGB IPS

Only get around 5 hrs battery life with some stretch. Good cooling (just need undervolt), but stock paste is bad so repaste is recommended

Also take a look at Metabox N850EJ and N850EK, though you need to install OS by your own and these models have OKish build quality+mediocre cooling

What about the HP Omen with the i5-8300H and GTX 1050TI and 1TB HDD and 128GB SSD and also comes with 12GB RAM. It s about 850 USD so even on converting that to AUD its around 1200. IDK if its available though. I think cooling is decent but fans spin up a lot. The panels probably low sRGB but better than others. @Quintavious V Check whether its available in your country. Also instead of building a separate rig if you could increase your budget to around 1400 AUD or so you could get a better gaming laptop with better panels, more performance and possibly better battery life under light use.
