What Budget/Country?

the i7 8700 non K is likely a better choice for coffee lake, Ryzen 5 1600/2600 being a likely better value

That cooler isn't worth it and won't be much better than cheap 120mm air coolers.

probably don't need an 860 Evo

That case has no airflow, get something with mesh.

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

I think the ftw card has a slightly better cooler, but they'll clock at pretty much the same speeds when tweaked

Why? Ryzen 5 tends to be half the price of the i7 8700, but it maintains about 80% of it's performance.

Also if the 1070ti is much cheaper buy that, same performance with a 2 minute OC.

You can fix the case's airflow by just removing the front panel.

So what ur saying is that ryzen 5 is about the same performance as i7 8700 and is half the price. Cus i plan on overclocking everything.

I don't know your price difference there

An R5 2600 is $165 in the US
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/jLF48d/amd-ryzen-5-2600-34ghz-6-core-processor-yd2600bbafbox

The i7 8700 non K is for some reason $279 on amazon....$333 everywhere else.
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/C9hj4D/intel-core-i7-8700-32ghz-6-core-processor-bx80684i78700

If you want to think of it in terms of numbers for the average AAA game
Ryzen 2000 is going to sit at just over 100fps depending on how close you get to 4.3ghz
8700 non K is probably around 115fps average

Obviously actual difference will vary depending on the game. Will shrink if you were playing at 1440p instead of 1080p, and will shrink if you're more GPU bound, say a GTX 1050 at 1080p

In my county, the i5 8600k is cheaper than the i7 8700 and ryzen 5 1600 and 2600 so i think i will go with the i5 8600k. And it also has overclocking functions.

I have a 1080 SC, but I'd probably go with the FTW. My SC runs pretty hot and loud, even after reapplying thermal paste. When I go to 2ghz it sits with like 80% fan speed at around 77 degrees in games. FTW is a bigger cooler so it should be cooler and quieter.

Main System: EVGA GTX 1080 SC, i7 8700, 16GB DDR4 Corsair LPX 3000mhz CL15, Asus Z370 Prime A, Noctua NH D15, EVGA GQ 650W, Fractal Design Define R5, 2TB Seagate Barracuda, 500gb Samsung 850 Evo
Secondary System: EVGA GTX 780ti SC, i5 3570k @ 4.5ghz, 16gb DDR3 1600mhz, MSI Z77 G43, Noctua NH D15, EVGA GQ 650W, Fractal Design Define R4, 3TB WD Caviar Blue, 250gb Samsung 850 Evo

Can’t conpare a reference board to a custom. The sc is limited by power quite a bit. Still got over 2100 with them though. I wish I bought Ftw versions as their ek blocks are really cheap and I wouldn’t mind seeing the the gpu could actually be pushed a bit higher.

But overall get which ever is cheaper and assuming you don’t have any kind of clearance issue with the ftw being a larger card.

Main RIg Corsair Air 540, I7 9900k, ASUS ROG Maximus XI Hero, G.Skill Ripjaws 3600 32GB, 3090FE, EVGA 1000G5, Acer Nitro XZ3 2560 x 1440@240hz

Then go for that, but you're going to want a larger air cooler, or a 240mm AIO, and possibly a better motherboard

Anything huge from Thermalright or Noctua should be fine

Any 240mm AIO from Corsair or EVGA or maybe deepcool will be fine.

Should also consider delidding it sometime it'll knock 15-20C off your temps straight away.

Maybe a bit overpriced but fine, if you can fit a large air cooler like a D14 or D15 or HR-22 or Le Grand Macho I'd stick to that.

good AIOs will be fine for years but never having to worry about it is nice.

Don't know what your pricing/availability is, this is what the US looks like, probably don't want to go with anything below the EVGA CLC 240

Then probably just buy that, but it sounds like you could use that AIO money to upgrade to an 8700K...lol or intel 9th gen is coming soon and will be soldered.
