First off sorry for the rather sensationalist title also I wasn't sure where to post this but it's sorta about overclocking... I guess & about CPUs. So my 3570k is running 5.1 ghz as shown by my bios and by cpu-z. Even windows 8 task manager shows "Maximum Speed" as 5.10 ghz. The only thing is when under prime 95 or just under any kind of serious load it displays 7.60 ghz in task manager? I don't know what the deal is with this, can someone plz explain to me. Looking at cpu-z the voltages are worrying they hover around 1.5v at load. I am a massive n00b and just want to make sure my cpu isn't going to light on fire but I've been using it at this speed (5.1 ghz) for over a year now and everything seems peachy. Is this just windows 8 having a lulz fest or is it something to do with turbo boost? Also random side note I turned my computer on today and the year was set to 2090...

Task manager in Windows 8 doesn't seem to like OC'd stuff.

Like ZOMG, I'm totally nerding out to this. It's so exciting it hurts. My envy, I just. Can't. Contain. Overwhelming. Sense. Of. Enthusiashahahaha. Nice troll.

Really, windows 8 is a test bed for bringing back future technologies. What it has ultimately done is bring you a cpu from the distant future. Don't worry, if it fries, it is auto correcting what with the nano bots and all.

Is this just windows 8 having a lulz fest or is it something to do with turbo boost? Also random side note I turned my computer on today and the year was set to 2090...

It's probably some error reading because I have been getting some really funky ones also.

I have FX 8350 with an overclock of 5.022GHz, but when I have the system under Prime95 load my OpenHardwareMonitor is telling me some funny numbers.

My FSB is set at 200.88 which is stock, but for some reason the hardware monitor program tells me that my FSB is at 526...

The FSB reading is complete bogus and so is the core clock of 9.6Ghz also.

CPU-Z is reporting the correct FSB and core clock speeds at the same time while the hardware monitor is going crazy.

No idea what the cause is.
