Go to solution Solved by Zagna,

Mobile Intel® HM76 Express Chipset

  • Total # of SATA Ports 6
  • Max # of SATA 6.0 Gb/s Ports 2

Depends on whether Asus used the 2 6Gbps ports or one of the 4 3Gbps ports.

Anyway, in real life use, either are more than enough.

Want to know whether ASUS k55vm has SATA iii(6gbps) or SATA ii(3gbps)?

P.s.The hard disk in the laptop is SATA 3Gb/s

Laptop specs:

ASUS k55vm-sx120d

i5-3210m/Intel HM76 chipset

2x4GB DDR3-1600/PC3-12800 SDRAM SO-DIMM (SK Hynix HMT351S6CFR8C-PB)

Intel HD 4000+ Nvidia GT-630m

750GB SATA 3Gb/s Seagate ST9750420AS(7200RPM) hard disk

HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GT51N DVD drive

Windows 10 pro x64

How can I verify if it ASUS used SATA 3 or SATA 2 controllers?

By trying to use a SATA 3 drive. It doesn't matter.

You won't notice any difference in normal usage between 3Gbps or 6Gbps.
