So recently i have received an HP 8200 elite Mini tower and have since tried turning it into a gaming machine due to its intel i7 2600 and 16gb of ddr3. Now the proprietary PSU doesn't have a six pin on it for PCIE and im trying to put a geforce gtx 750Ti in to it. Whenever the graphics card is installed into the mobo i get nothing but all fans spinning at max but if the card isnt installed it boots fine. Now i have a separate PSU and im wondering if i can use a second powere supply to power the graphics card. Ive heard of people using the bypass trick where you put paper clip into the 24 pin and the external power supply works but is that dangerous. also is the any other way to get it working? anything more long term?

If you are posting on a forum or rather, the help section of the forum we probably know you need help, so the title gets redundant

redundancy isn't the real problem. titles are made in a way people know what the post is about

If you use a misleading title like that one you are sort of forcing people to read the whole thread even though it may be a topic they cannot help with, please don't do that I don't think it's fair

Did you think the OP was suicidal?  Maybe on the ledge of a tall building?

Searching your model of HP computer, it appears that it uses an ATX form factor (so you don't need to replace the case), but shitty HP power connectors on the motherboard so it doesn't have the standard 24pin motherboard connector. There are adapters on ebay to convert 24pin motherboard connectors to the crappy HP stuff, but I wouldn't bother.
I'd recommend searching eBay and craigslist for a used H67 motherboard to replace the crappy motherboard that came with the system. Make sure it comes with standard connectors and isn't another OEM board from HP/Dell.

As @jonnyGURU has mentioned, take the CPU and DDR3 out of the system and throw away the PSU and motherboard. The value is really in the i7 2600 and the 16GB of DDR3, while the motherboard and PSU are essentially worthless.

What is the other power supply? If you replace the motherboard with a better motherboard, you could just use that to power the system.

I'd also recommend considering getting a cheap SSD to put in the system as an OS drive, and that will greatly improve the responsiveness of the system.

I think with a new motherboard and SSD, using the other power supply you already have, you could have yourself a fairly usable machine capable of running less intensive games like Fortnite and probably a fair few others on low/med settings.
