Take a look at this list. It's generally agreed on that on a strict budget you shouldn't get worse than a tier 4, and if you want to do it right, go tier 3 or better.

For around the price of a VP600P you should be able to find a Corsair CX550 or 550M which should be fine for a single GPU setup.

I'd be more surprised if a brand doesn't have at least one crappy PSU.

well its expected that some psus would be worse than others and maybe be less efficient etc but i wouldnt expect them to release one thats fry your components bad

im surprised at some of the brand names performing so poorly

VW has the Up and the Pheaeton.

Is it surprising that the Up, wich cost around 1/10th of the Phaeton (or even less) is a worse car than the Phaeton? Both come from the same manufacturer!

YOu get my point? There are shitty, low price products but the good stuff cost a penny or two more than the crap.

And here we also have the shitty, low price stuff that somehow works and you have the good stuff that works better and extends the life of the components.

Considering that Antec doesn't actually manufacture their PSUs, it's not surprising at all. Why would they have a 200 dollar PSU that performs stellar when they could have a 50 dollar PSU that performs as well? It doesn't make sense. If the PSU is cheaper then it isn't going to be as good, and you can't make a blanket statement about a brand's PSUs when they have to have a super cheap unit in there for a target market.

Currently, every single PSU Corsair sells is an exception unit bar the VS. The VS isn't utter crap, but it shouldn't be carrying Corsair's reputation with it the same way an RMi should.

so can i go with corsair cx450w psu.will it hold my build together or should i go with cx650

You should spend more than $50 on a PSU if you can afford a GTX 1080. An EVGA G2/G3, Seasonic Focus Plus Gold, Bitfenix Whisper/Formula Gold, Corsair TX/RMx, all would be fine for your system. 550W is the minimum for several of these listed while 450W would still be enough for your system with overclocking.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

You know what's funny? I love cars and I know both of these vehicles, but most people in America don't know what an Up looks like and the Phaeton has sold like 2000 units in the entire USA xD

I get your point though.

For those from America:

Should a Chevrolet Aveo be able to hold the same reputation as the Corvette? No. Despite being made both by Chevrolet, the Aveo is crap and the Corvette isn't and you shouldn't hold the Aveo to the same standard considering the huge price gap.
