Dell E6520 and 50mm sata?

The_Dave9081

I have a dell E6520 (My favorite $5.00 Thrift Store find yet.) and I am looking to upgrade the storage system from a hard drive to a hard drive and ssd without loosing my optical drive. https://www.amazon.com/Drive-Caddy-Modular-original-Newmodeus/dp/B009OLHG30

This device has a 25mm pcie msata slot on the board, I would prefer to use a 50mm https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07CTGJBCR/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=AG6COPKGTCMIO&psc=1

above is the original ssd shipped when ordered from dell regardless of the slot being present on the board. GO DELL!!!

Bellow are some information sources I found regarding the issue. One user post results with a 50mm ssd working in the wwan slot on a similar device but not exactly the same as my own.

So question for the linus forums: Will the Dogfish 480GB drive work in the larger slots or is the 25mm slot the only one with an msata controller?
