What I bought : Dell E1916HV 18.5'

500w power supply

Wireless USB wifi adapter

Red dragon : mouse,mouse pad,headset,keyboard (mechanical)

Mid tower atx case raidmax v4

What I need : cpu,gpu,ram,motherboard

For less than 500$ (R7000,that's south african currency,Rand)Please try your best to keep prices as low as possible.Places I can buy online : amazon international, South African online retailers : takealot.com, evetech.com and computer mania

So the only consoles i had was : PS vita,PSP and xbox 360 (when it came out).I liked handhelds due to its portability, but now I want to change and play better games, currently i only play games mobile (2gb ram phone,so Im not used to good graphics)

I don't want to buy anything 2nd hand, unless you tell me thats the only way with my budget.I'm not used to high graphics and fps.

What i want to be able to play : GTA V,metal gear solid V, watchdogs 2,fallout 4 and just cause 3. Like I said,i don't mind low graphics settings. In fact due to my budget i won't mind play at 720p (aim for that when recommending parts, 720p low settings and at least 40fps average,i won't mind dips into 35+fps)

Thanks for your help!

Could you point us to the exact PSU you bought? 500W doesn't mean anything if it's a shitty $20 fire cracker.

PC Specs - AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D MSI B550M Mortar - 32GB Corsair Vengeance RGB DDR4-3600 @ CL16 - ASRock RX7800XT 660p 1TBGB & Crucial P5 1TB Fractal Define Mini C CM V750v2 - Windows 11 Pro

for 500 dollars you should be able to get something that does what you specified. Just go to one of these websites that sells components, look for a cpu and select "sort by price" then do the same thing for ram, motherboard and graphics card, and puzzle with this strategy until you've found the most powerful config that fits within your budget.

edit: also for the motherboard just pick the cheapest thing from a good brand that supports the cpu, ram and gpu that you want.

for the budget you have you wont be able to get much, i would recommend to get a ryzen 2400g with some fast ram and any motherboard you can get for a good price and save some money to get a dedicated GPU in the future.

That was actually my first option! I was thinking of saving for a GTX 1050 ti once i get that! 8gb ddr4 ram,b350m gaming pro mobo. With that can i play assassins creed black flag or GTA V lowest settings at 720p Using integrated graphics?

it will run for sure performance will depend much on ram speed.

i found some benchmarks that show GTA 5 1080p low settings runs at over 50 fps minimum.

it seems like as long as the game is not very demanding in terms of VRam you are fine and can game reasonably well.

Thanks! The benhmarks you got was 1080p and I'll even play 720p low if need be.I was thinking of getting GTA V ,Assasins creed black flag and borderlands the pre sequel.I should be able to get 40+fps 720p,right? These aren't new games so I'll hope it is playable.

You'll be able to do that, my computer is worse than that an can also run these games pretty well.

GREAT! Is 2133MHZ fast enough?

should be perfectly playable from my point of view.

Yes it is. RAM frequency isn't extremely important in budget computers like this. Also, you are probably able to run it at 2400 MHz by changing some BIOS settings. I am running my 2400 MHz RAM at 2666 MHz the same way, on a motherboard that doesn't even support CPU overclocking.

this is completely false, the 2400g shares its RAM with the integrated GPU so faster ram directly translates into more FPS.

if you can try to get faster ram like 2600mhz or more

I didn't think about the iGPU at all! But it still isn't "completely false", if a dGPU was used the RAM speed wouldn't make much of a difference.

even then this is not universally true anymore specially higher end Ryzen CPU´s benefit from fast and/or low latency RAM but yes it is more of a new thing and historically it didnt matter that much.

That's very well possible, although I have never noticed any performance increase going from 2400 to 2666 on an r5 1600. Maybe on the real high end it does have a bigger impact.
