Is there a difference between a laptop hard drive and a normal 5inch one ??

I have recently come in to possession of a few high capacity hard drives taken from laptops and was wondering if they would work in my full sized PC 

I know im a nub

What case do you have?

 

Some have 2.5" bays. Some have 3.5" bays that have mounting holes for 2.5" drives.
