not sure what your question exactly is

Make sure to quote me or tag me when responding to me, or I might not know you replied! Examples:

Do this:

And make sure you do it by hitting the quote button at the bottom left of my post, and not the one inside the editor!

Buy whatever product is best for you, not what product is "best" for the market.

Interested in computer architecture? Still in middle or high school? P.M. me!

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.

The 4690K is fine up to a 1070 or so, but a used 4770K/4790K might be a good investment - platform is fine

I have looked into upgrading to a 4770k and that cpu costs as much as a current 8500 to a 8700 cpu I dont feel its worth it, may as well get something more modern,

also the 4790k isnt compatible with z87 motherboards

IDK your money, honestly your fine with what you have right now - but if you were going to upgrade get a Ryzen 5 2600, ASUS Strix B450-F Gaming, and whatever 2666 or higher speed 16GB kit of DDR4 is cheap

Im upgrading when the 9th gen comes out soo in the mean time my computer is fine.

I guess I wanted to know what the c0re i5 4690k was equivlant to with the 8th gen processors and whether it be worth  upgrading to 8th or ninth gen intel or just waiting another year or two.

I have this  habit of getting excited and wanting to waste money on upgrades when I dont need to

Don't bother with Intel, get the Ryzen 5 3600 instead - better value

single clock performance is the same  although multi core is way faster. http://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i5-4690K-vs-AMD-Ryzen-5-2600/2432vs3955

I do value single clock performance

IIRC Ryzen 3rd gen is rumored to hit much higher clocks

fair I guess the best approach is to wait until the nineth gen comes out and then see what its performance is,

I agree with people in this topic saying that you are best to hold out till Intel's 9th gen series. As far as what you'll be buying. It is all going to depend on what you use your pc for the majority of the time. For me for example I do gaming, video, and graphics/web design. So I typiclly opt for the spend big, and save on the back end idea. In your case you talked about games right away. If upgrading is something you have your heart set on I suggest going with msi for your mobo. For your cpu go with intel's Exstreme series which is their enthusiast platform. I have been running a Intel Core i7 7800X the X signifies the extreme series. I love it. It handles everything I through at it. In terms of features like usb type-c, or other newer things just wanna be sure to check your mobo features when picking one out. msi often has a lot of features for the money, but asus is good too. You may find also that you need, or will want to upgrade your RAM as your cpu may ask for something else then what you have currently.

Hope this helped.

I see I just wanted to lay out more then one avenue. I personally think the exstreme series just has a bit more flexibility is all.

No its cool I appreciate it. there are many choices hell I may go i7  but I tend to go with what I feel comfortable spending.

hell Im looking to get a new monitor I mean I could save up for a gsync monitor but I really dont want to spend over 500 dollers , even thought I did go over that for my 1070 ti  (stupid price hike)

I hear ya on the spending $500 on a monitor as that is kinda rich for my blood as well, but it may prove worth it since you have the 1070ti. My logic here is you spent so much already why not go with what you know you'll like. Long as it dose not break the bank completely.
