Good evening, or at least it is here in the UK.

Straight to the point here,

i'm looking at building a computer for my mum, and i am wondering if anyone here has done the same.

She uses her current laptop for;

  1. Word documents.
  2. Spreadsheet documents.
  3. Social media.

I'm thinking small form factor, silent(ish), low maintenance, reasonable-fast performance, and low build price.

I'm after

  1. Case (micro ATX maybe?)
  2. Mother board
  3. CPU (AMD or intel?)
  4. Power supply
  5. hard drive.
  6. peripherals (mouse, keyboard, speakers and monitor)

All opinions appreciated, Thank you!

What is your budget? Many people's definitions of budget are completely different.

Or you can get a prebuilt/small form factor all in one (is that what you call them?) like @CK1968 suggested.

The only reason I'm here is that I have homework that I don't want to do

PC  Specs   CPU: Intel Celeron N3060 |GPU: Intel HD graphics 400 |RAM2 gigs  |STORAGE16 gigs

It took me half an hour to find where to change my signature :(

Honestly, at this low end, its usally cheaper to just buy a computer from a retailer

If you were to build, an Intel Pentium with 4 GB ram, any large HDD, any compatible motherboard and whatever case work.

However i think @Clanscorpia might have a batter suggestion.

If I know how good the Celeron in @CK1968‘s recommendation was, I’d comment on it.

Here’s a decent ish all in one refurbished. May not come with mouse and keyboard

Heres my suggested PC though from Dell new at 299.99 USD. All it needs is a monitor of which you can buy anything on eBay basically.
