Help to Choose PC Parts

So I am going to be needing to build a PC soon (within next 3 months) and I would like to get some suggestions on the parts I have picked. I will be mainly using the PC for software development and work related tasks but would like it to be able to handle today's games as well for the odd time that I play them. I typically have my PC for around 4-5 years so I'd like it to be decent up until then.

The main thing I am concerned about is the processor. I have only ever had intel in the past but Ryzen has some great stuff now from what I've heard however I don't know which would be better apart from the fact that Ryzen's price point is much better. Please provide suggestions for all parts if you have any as I could definitely use them. The budget is max $2000 CAD for everything (including peripherals, monitor etc) but I would love if it was lower than that. Thanks in advance!

id recommend going with ryzen 2700 for the extra cores. I also don't know how well a 1060 will be able to run at 2k resolution, maybe either look into a better gpu or downgrade to a 1080p panel. You might also want to add an inexpensive HDD for storage, but you can add that down the line

Software development scales well with core count. Get a high core count ryzen to speed up your work.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B
