So I just built my first pc.  For now I am using a gt 710 with 2 gbs of gddr5.  I just want to know if anyone knows of any graphics cards under $100 other than the gt 1030 that can still give reasonable/decent performance and allow me to play games at over 20 fps on my 1080p monitor.

For that sort of budget you'll be looking at a used 750Ti 2GB.

Scam cards?

There are a bunch of cards out there with fake specs and are basically just an old card reflashed with a shiny new shroud on top.  A lot of them ship from China and there are a ton of videos on them on youtube.

then dont buy the fake looking ones

you best bet though is a used 750ti without knowing your power supply wattage and connectors

Maybe but a design that was only available in the GTX 1000 series?

I bought 2 months ago a 1050 (not TI) at 155$ CAD brand new on amazon.ca. That's about 110$ USD. It run games like heroes of the storm pretty darn good at 1080p medium settings at 60 fps very stable. Check out this video it's a 1050 TI but it's not much different plus that benchmark is at 3840x2160 resolution with graphic at extreme and the TI runs at 45 fps average.

I personally own a 680 GTX and they are still in the 250$ CAD (200$ usd) and My friend have an RX 560 and i pretty much run all my games double his settings. I can run for example Kingdom come deliverance at high/medium settings 1080p in the 50-70 fps range (more like 50 in combat and 70 when walking around). My friend had to lower to 720p and everything low settings and still a bit laggy from what he is saying. very rarely the screen freeze for a second then continue.

Craigslist and other classifieds are your friend. Near me there is a 770 going for $70. Facebook sites will also get you great deals. eBay is also good used but can be more expensive than classifieds since you are buying online

Interesting video, wasn't sure that a 1060 crushes 4K at 80FPS on Ultra.  WHy buy a 1070 or better?

That video is very very skewed.  Try Fallout 4 in 4K, Ark in 4K, Witcher 3 in 4K...

I don't think the OP wanting 20 fps at least with non gaming card is aiming at games line Ark. With those choice and requirement that lead me to think he is more into lighter title like LOL, HOTS, Overwatch. Which run great even on APU. I even run HOTS low settings at 35 fps on 1080p steady on my Ryzen 3 2200U mobile processor.

I'm just commenting on a 1050Ti hitting 54fps in 4K on Ultra.  That kind of blows my mind.

GT1030 is your only option if you want to buy new

Edit: I checked some benches and the rx550 isn't too far behind.  If you can find an RX 550 cheaper than the 1030 it's not too much slower, but I would check benchmarks for the games you want to play.

Used you have a few options to look at, and it's a better value under $100.  GTX 660/750ti/950 or Radeon 78xx/79xx/R9 2xx

Keep power supply in mind.

To be honest i just want to be able to run most games nowadays.  My Gt 710 forces me to downscale my resolution in games, and since I'm using my old smart TV as a screen, most resolution changes end up making my games look like a mixture of dirt and very flat grass.  Playable, sure, but it doesn't look good and I can't keep my fps stable most of the time either.

Anything 1050 or more is enough for that. I have a friends that has a nvidia 570 GTX and he runs triple A games. Not at the fastest but it run well enough. He has nearly all graphic at minimum ans in about 1 years max he will have to reduce his resolution to 720p because thats limit. So techinally. Anything above that in nvidia that mean 570, 660, 760, 950, 1050 (and everything higher in each series) it should be enough. Onviously 9 series and 10 series should be good for longer time. But really check for used card. Locally on facebook i currently see deals a 110$ CAD 70 ish in USD for zotac 1050 (mini i guess from the pics). Used you can find little gems at very low price

Here: rx 560. Around the same performance as a 1050

https://m.newegg.com/products/N82E16814131732

$119 shipped  -$10 for using masterpass checkout with code:  MPBTC18 -$20 rebate.

$89 shipped after code and rebate.

If you are willing to go used you can get more performance for the dollar. Any of the suggestions in this thread should work.
