Posted August 14, 2018 Hello, I bought a new 4Tb Hard drive from amazon and when it came it was sealed like a new unit (cuz it probably is) I just have one problem and it probably not a big one but I can't quite seem to be able to initialize it... was do I need to do ? second screenshot says: "The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error" Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options... Posted August 14, 2018 I/O errors can mean two things: 1. The SATA cable is not connected properly/defective 2. The disk is DOA I'd try different SATA cables and ports to rule out the former. Also try the disk in another system if you can. Posted August 14, 2018 HDD controller is the culprit for that error, meaning your hdd came DOA. or you can try it, connect it. on. another pc, if the error is the same, then it's DOA Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
