If I were you I would buy a 1080p/1440p 144/165 24/27' gsync,

Just think how can a monitor last, (maybe 2 to 3 full computers)

I know people playing 1440p with a 960 @ dota2 without problems.

With your 970 dont worry you will have gpu for a few years and you allways can buy a newer when the time comes

I think best value

If you live in USA : Amazon.com-> Dell s2716dg (450$)
If you live in europe: Amazon.com-> omen 27(500€)

You can buy 1080p 24 inch gsync but is worse bang for buck. those 2 are a sweet spot 165hz 1440p gsync tn panels.

Case: Corsair 760T  |  Psu: Evga  650w p2 | Cpu-Cooler : Noctua Nh-d15 | Cpu : 8600k  | Gpu: Gygabyte 1070 g1 | Ram: 2x8gb Gskill Trident-Z 3000mhz |  Mobo : Aorus GA-Z370 Gaming K3 | Storage : Ocz 120gb sata ssd , sandisk 480gb ssd , wd 1gb hdd | Keyboard : Corsair k95 rgb plat. | Mouse : Razer deathadder elite | Monitor: Dell s2417DG (1440p 165hz gsync) & a crappy hp 24' ips 1080p | Audio: Schiit stack + Akg k712pro + Blue yeti.

I think 120hz should work just fine

Yes, but for best experience I allways recommend gsync or freesync, I dont care to play at 80fps or a 70-90 , but I cant play now without gsync, gsync outputs your hz to the fps making almost near 0 stutters.

There was an acer predator 1080p 180hz on the cheap (300-350$) with gsync

Edit: look on your country for this model , https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Predator-XB241H-bmipr-1920x1080/dp/B01C05C1OK

Your computer should be able to play all e-sport game at 144 fps just fine, except PUBG you need to put low setting if you want 144 fps. If you're really low on budget, then get either Asus VG248QE or BenQ XL2411. both are good budget 144hz monitor.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X | M/B: Asus ROG Strix X370-F | RAM: G.Skill TridentZ RGB 3200MHz 32GB | GPU: Asus TUF RTX 3070 8GB GDDR6 | SSD: Samsung 960 Evo 250GB | HDD: Seagate Barracuda 4TB x2 | Power: Thermaltake Toughpower 80+ Gold 650W | Sound card: Creative Sound BlasterX AE-5  | Case: NZXT H500 | Cooling: NZXT Kraken X62 | Display: Samsung CHG70 27" 1440p 144Hz QLED
