so this the laptop:

HP Pavilion Business Flagship Laptop PC (2018 Edition) 15.6" HD WLED-backlit Display 8th Gen Intel i5-8250U Quad-Core Processor, 8GB DDR4 RAM, 1TB HDD, Bluetooth, Webcam, B&O Audio, Windows 10

As far as I can tell the laptop only has a Type C USB 3.1 port and not Thunderbolt support which is required for an external GPU.
