So I have a bunch of cables behind my desk from a bunch of electronics and I'm wondering if this is a fire hazard and I've been kinda scared. I don't know if there's much I can do to make it neater. I have cables for my mouse, keyboard, monitor, 2 pairs of headphones, speakers, 10 track mixer, guitar pod 2.0, and webcam to my computer, and then I have the computer itself, monitor, speakers, mixer, and pod plugged into a pretty good power strip. Is this safe to have all the wires kinda shoved back there? They're not pushing against the power strip. Posted Image

Not really a fire hazard. If it was me though I would pull that power board away from the cables.

If there is no exposed wiring, or an exceptional amount of heat coming from something near it, then no.

The only way to be sure is to turn everything on for a while (drawing as much current as you ever normally would) and see if anything is warm/hot. Rat's nests of cables can be dangerous, but more often than not pose no threat. I wouldn't worry about it.

well if yours is a fire hazard, my setup should be burning within the hour.  I have a few more cables than that behind my desk and also have my PC blowing hot air into the space around their so you should be fine.  I wouldn't leave it on throughout the day if your not at home though

it looks very messy with all those cables on the side of my desk if I don't have it behind my desk, that's why I keep it back there

I don't think there is any heat coming from it. I do have 3 power bricks which create heat back there for my speakers xbox and pod but they aren't on all the time

just make sure your not pulling to much power from the one socket with that adapter other than that it should be fine.

how would I know if I'm pulling too much power from the one outlet? Should I plug my pc power cable into another outlet?

well I have a few power bricks back there that create heat when they are turned on, so idk what would be from the power bricks or not. Should I just test everything except those?

haha okay this makes me feel a bit better. I always put my computer to sleep when I'm not on it during the day and shut it off at night so I think I should be okay

I guess its fine as long as your power bar can handle that amount of electricity. BTW you can use the multiquote function to quote multiple users instead of quoting them individually and creating individual posts.
