16:10 and 16:9 are too long for portrait mode to hold it comfortably on bedside

And I do prefer a more squarer aspect ratio in landscape mode for web browsing and basic productivity tasks like word and google docs.

Isn't 4:3 usually thought to be better for reading? The squarer shape seems more appropriate for that, but perhaps I'm missing your point.

While we're off topic I want another √2 aspect ratio tablet. The Pixel C Screen was the perfect ratio for me to do work on...

 

The 3:2 on the Pixelbook just isn't quite the same when I need to do split screen.
