I legitimately think I've gotten very lucky. I've only had a hard drive and some ram fail on me in maybe 15? years. Oh, and a 6970 that had a capacitor explode.

 

I did turn an almost-working iPhone into a completely broken iPhone by trying to replace the screen though. Quite proud of that.

Two motherboards; one because I used a very shitty charger on a laptop and one on complete accident. The latter was the board of my old rig which had poorly soldered capacitors on it.

I've never broken components, but I've had 2 PSUs and 3 sticks of DDR3 die on me(I'm pretty sure the RAM is dead, at least).

 

Edit: I say I've not broken components because none of these died due to my actions. It was more or less out of the blue.

A bunch of hard drives I dropped, or took apart because I was bored. Around 7-8 hard drives I'd say. Three CPU's, one I melted, one was cut and one was bent. 3-4 motherboards. A bunch of laptops too. It's what I do when I'm bored, or in school. Our teacher let's us take them apart and let's me destructively take them apart. 

 

Something I wanted to add, I don't break things on accident. All things I've broken were on purpose and not by mistake.

Just put an SSD in your back pocket to take it upstairs and then get hungry, go out for lunch and sit on a hard ass chair because there's literally no food in the house and then get home, go back to what you were doing and then be like "oh shit"

Forgot to count.

Probably around half a dozen or so Socket A CPUs - always my fault/User Error except for recently they were killed by the Board.

A couple of GPUs like RIVA TNT, Voodoo5 and many other things.

That actually reminds me - I had a screwdriver slip and crack the die on an Athlon XP 2200+. I was super bummed too, I had just done the pencil mod.

I had a friend who carried five flash drives in his pocket lol. Most were viruses he created and plugged them in my school computer.

Yeah, those Open Die CPUs were the worst and died for no reason because the Die is so brittle and crack easily...

And also the Mounting system at the time was garbage...

And sometimes it even breaks, especially when moving the PC...

 

That's stuff nobody thinks about today...

 

 

PS: YOu remember the plastic clips frame you put on the CPU, and then the Heatsink on top?

So now I'm really old

Because that was at a time where the CPU got 5V (later 3,3V).
