The Green-labels aren't fire hazards like everyone seems to think they are; they're actually very similar to the new ones just with a 30C full power rating as opposed to 40 on the new ones

The CX550M seems like a great option @The Cheeto Bomb although for $42 you can get a Rosewill Capstone https://pcpartpicker.com/product/CdLypg/rosewill-power-supply-capstone550m

The hell are you talking about? The old ones were group regulated, the new ones are DC-DC. The old ones all used sleeve bearing fans, I think, the grey CX use rifle bearing fans.

They share the same name and efficiency certification, but otherwise they're completely different.

:)

Aren't they? I know the old 750W unit was built on a different platform than the lower watt ones. Either way it's a moot point since you can't buy them anymore

The higher wattage models are similar to the new ones, but not the CX430, CX500/M and CX600/M.

You can, actually. https://pcpartpicker.com/products/power-supply/#e=2&m=11&sort=price&page=1

Then what should have been said was "CX, CXM, or Vengeance series PSUs with model numbers ending in x50 or x50M are reasonably good, those ending in 30 or 00 are crap"

Yeah, that's fair. I really wish they'd release those in North America. Does @jonnyGURU know why they haven't?

Sales people and resellers don't want to SKU it up because it's too close to CX-M.

Then why not use the better Vengeance unit under the CX-M name in NA?
