Does win10 need to be activated to show up in Network windows explorer?

TheMidnightNarwhal

I'm trying to access other computer in windows so I can transfer files. I don't see other computers in the windows explorer but I do see my network printer. Also, I can ping the other computer succesfully.

So yeah I don't know what to do now. Also turned off my Kaspersky anti virus has maybe it had some kind of firewall but no success. So the only thing I can think of is that my windows is not activated. Could this be the reason why?

AFAIK Windows doesnt need to activated at all, you just wont be able to turn off the creepy spy features and adjust certain settings.

you also get a disgusting watermark after a certain ammount of uptime.

Yeah, on both computers. From the laptop I can see my dad's computer but from it I don't see mine. And from mine I don't see neither.

Set a static DHCP on your router and just use computer IP, instead of using window discovery feature.

Windows 10 can be really weird about network discovery turn the computer off and then on again, Wow I should be a tech support guy but seriously could fix the problem. Every time I update windows I lose network connectivity it also happens randomly sometimes for no reason.
