LDX

PSU for 1080ti Mini ITX

Remember this video on the 380T???

Well I got it, and I am planning to put in there

a Ryzen 2700x + 1080Ti Gigabyte OC

I need a small PSU, not rectangular

cause im planning to install a couple HDD

I was thinking on the Corsair CX750 vs the TX750

But dont know which is better my guess is the TX cause is more pricy?

Suggestions pls Im going out shopping tomorrow morning

It (The Graphite 380T) supports full sized power supplies, so you're fine. I love the EVGA G2/G3 series of power supplies, they're great quality for a reasonable price.

Specs: CPU - Intel i7 8700K @ 5GHz | GPU - Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming | Motherboard - ASUS Strix Z370-G WIFI AC | RAM - XPG Gammix DDR4-3000MHz 32GB (2x16GB) | Main Drive - Samsung 850 Evo 500GB M.2 | Other Drives - 7TB/3 Drives | CPU Cooler - Corsair H100i Pro | Case - Fractal Design Define C Mini TG | Power Supply - EVGA G3 850W

If you mean it's a decent price that's nice

they're usually pretty expensive because it's low volume and the component cost is likely high.

Really though that case is a bit large for ITX, coulda just gotten like a Q300L.

You sure? Some builds on PCPartPicker have that size of PSU installed with the HDD cage as well.

This build used an EVGA GS 650W.

That's not an SFX PSU. That's an ultra low end ATX PSU. He was probably referring to the SX600-G, this one.

G2 is fine, the G3 suffers with its OPP and OTP protections. Not recommended.

I built in this case about a month ago. PSU's under 160mm long will fit without much fuss, and you can keep the 3.5" HDD tray. Just make sure you plug in all your cables into the PSU (if it's modular) before you install it.

G3 750W got a 9.8 from JonnyGuru, and he found no major issues with it.

How exactly does it "suffer" with its OPP and OTP protections?

To be fair, JonnyGuru himself doesnt do the reviews anymore.

Newer reviews have come out citing certain concerns with those protections.

^^^ Just got an EVGA 550W G3 for $80 for my 2700X + 980 Ti rig and it's dope. Not a bad price for the quality PSUs they are either.

Well I put a 200mm fan in the front, and that's basically it for case fans. No rear or side fans needed. Though my system is a bit less power hungry than yours. I went from a full sized ATX tower with 3 200mm fans to this mITX with just the single 200 in the front, and temps on both the CPU (4790k @4.4ghz) and GPU (970 FTW) are about the same even though I quote "downgraded" the CPU cooler.

5b6097320b05f_Sequence01_1.gif.07f5d6d804bb5ff25841c42c479a0846.gif

The build itself is pretty straight forward, there's a lot of leftover cables since the distance from PSU to GPU and mobo are significantly shorter, but theres still plenty of room to stash cables under the CPU/Fan bracket on the Right side (which is why it looks so clean from the left). Keep in mind if you're going to use an AIO, you're limited to a 240mm RAD max size.

I've built a couple of these, and to elaborate on what @TVwazhere mentioned, if you plan on using a PSU longer than 160mm with the HDD cage, you'll need a 380T PSU extension bracket which is available online.  It extends the mounting point about 20mm past the back of the case.
