A budget build

I am putting together a build for my little brother where he will mainly just play games.

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/C79Jmq

The GPU is the weak point because that is what I had in my old system. I am looking to upgrade my soon and pass on my 980ti to him. I do have a HDD just laying around to add aswell.

Thank you for your time and opinions.

Edit
Thanks for the input, currently looking at https://pcpartpicker.com/list/kqKBhy. I thought about just doing what I did in the past with mine and getting 8gb sticks whenever I had the budget and have had 16gb for a while now not realizing 8gb just isn't enough anymore. The case is more for me than him since I want a smaller case on my side. The SSD was just a mirror of what I am running and thought it would suffice but, seeing the m.2 SSD is just a 50% more for double the capacity, I would be an idiot not to get it. Any other suggestions are still appreciated!

I think the CPU waiting for a 980ti is quite appropriate. The 860 evo seems a little fancy for a little brother, but if it's in budget then go for it.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

I see you only have 8GB of RAM.

I see you only have one stick of RAM.

Eight GB is not really enough anymore.

I regularly go over that just in desktop.

Sitting at 9717MB right now.

Maybe you are planning on getting another 8GB at some point?

You can downgrade some parts to get 16GB RAM.

The MSI - X470 GAMING PLUS ATX AM4 Motherboard supports 1866/ 2133/ 2400/ 2667 Mhz by JEDEC, and 2667/ 2800/ 2933/ 3000/ 3066/ 3200/ 3466 Mhz by A- XMP mode, so the G.Skill - Ripjaws V 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR4-3600 Memory may be a bit much.

You can also save some money by downgrading motherboard to a B350 as well as getting a cheaper case.

Since you're passing your 980ti to your bro, the psu looks okay.  Don't know your budget... guessing $600?

You'll want dual channel RAM.

I would get an ASRock board instead of that MSI. I've had issues with a couple AMD MSI boards.

That seems excessively expensive for a 250GB SSD.

From a brief look at the part list so far it seems to be quiet well cost optimized. At nearly the same price point(~$2 difference) you could go with the Aorus Ultra Gaming to add in some additional BIOS security with Gigabyte's Dual Bios capability. You could also go with MSI's higher tier better heatsinked Gaming Pro board and for some reason right now pay slightly less.

Yeah, I wasn't sure about your budget so I opted for the X370 board in my suggested build and didn't know if you would be overclocking.

https://www.pcworld.com/article/3175005/computers/amd-ryzen-motherboards-explained-the-crucial-differences-in-every-am4-chipset.html

The Yeah 500GB m.2 for that price is pretty good.  I have my most often played games installed on my SSD and least often played games on my HDD.  Or your bro can elect to have all his games on his SSD.  Uninstalling/installing games is no big deal.

That new build looks good!

Good luck!
