i have a 12 volt 2.5 amp montitor would it be a bad idea to connect it to a 12 volt 3 amp source or would it be just enough to cuase issues now and or later?

Using it is fine

Power supplies only supply the amount of power demanded of them.  If the PSU is 3A and the load is 2.5A, then the PSU puts out 2.5A.

Correct.  Voltage is votlage.  You can't really use a 19V PSU with a 12V device.  But OP said both power brick and monitor are +12V.

Depends on the Quality of the Source.

Not all are created equally.


If the 2,5A Source is of higher quality than the 3A source, than it is a bad ide...
