I have an aging and probably broken MSI GTX 760. It recently started blanking my monitors periodically while playing games & just general PC use. And then in the last few days after launching a game I get big white rectangles across the screens (both monitors) and some tiny black squares with lots of bright colours in them (I have no image of this). The issues don't seem to appear on the BIOS/POST screens however the distortions on the screen don't start until I launch a game. When the distortions appear the PC needs to be rebooted before I can do anything else. Looking around the internet it seems that it's possibly a failing VRAM module. And while I did read that underclocking the VRAM might help, at best this would be a bandaid not a solution. Anyway the card is the better part of five years old and has been used pretty much every day since purchase, it's probably looking for a place in the great parts bin in the sky.

As I only upgraded the rest of my PC last year (I couldn't afford a new GPU at the time), rather than trying to make what I have work or finding a direct replacement (760 is a bit old) I plan on buying a new GPU ASAP.

I mostly use the PC for playing games and recording/streaming video, I do do some creative stuff in Blender/Gimp/et al. And some other more productivity type stuff. Most of the games I play are not AAA and never appear to have caused the 760 to struggle. Though that might change if I found a AAA that I want to play... so some future capability would be nice. My current PC is an AMD Ryzen 1600 with 16Gb RAM running Windows 10. It needs to have at a minimum 1 DVI & 1 HDMI.

Initially I was looking at a GTX 1060, as I know Nvidia and I didn't much enjoy my previous GPU to the 760 which was a HD 5700 (what I'm using ATM until I get a new card). However under Win 10 the Catalyst software seems to be a lot better than it ever was under Win 7 (which was part of my dislike for the HD 5700). However I have looked around for other options but most of the comparisons are purely on Price or Gaming performance. While I do want to know how good video encoding and Rendering would be too. So can anyone advise me?

TL-DR:

Modern GPU replacing GTX 760

Budget ~£200 (yes I'm in Britain).

DVI & HDMI ports.

Good for gaming light 3D rendering & Video Encoding (while gaming).

Suggestions?

AMD has been competitive in the 1060/RX 580 and down performance bracket for some time now.

Try find a used card? At least R9-290 tier. (R9-290/390/290x/390x/470/480/570/580) or GTX 970 on Nvidia side (GTX-970/1060s/980)

1050 Ti is pretty close to 760 performance unless you never overclock it.
