Hi, I have a question?
Do you think an i5 4690K will bottleneck with a 1070ti ?
And what about the i5 4690K at 144Hz (1080P) it is good ?
Thank you !

Yes it will.

Not really good for 144hz 1080p

You need a 4790K or better i7

Well, what games would you wind up playing?

Arma 3, TF2, the sims, vrchat (in VR)

I'm generalizing because I'm sure you play many titles, and would do so in the future.

You should aim for 8 threads for gaming, 4c8t would be best, 4c4t will get tapped out in multicore games, and induce some stuttering/high thread saturation = 100% or near CPU load most of the time in some extremely open demanding games now, and in the future obviously. BF1/5/Future + Assassins Creed titles going forward,..4 threads won't always stick to 144-165FPS.

The IPC is still justified in ample FPS when not CPU limited, maybe towards 144-165 and surpassing that, but usually near or past 100fps in Demanding titles/200FPS+ Lower details in optimized titles and such..

I have the i7 variant, with a GTX1070, have benched them well, mostly at High/Ultra details, OC'd or not, in most ways possible (combinations of ever techie change thought of,.OC Speeds)

Just having the 8 threads, gives me 60-80% of where my 90-100% 4690 (locked 4c4c=4.17GhzviaBCLK) in of the most demanding titles.

AC-Origins will give me 90+ core to core/thread load, all other games hardly touch anywhere near 80% usages across all cores/threads, some threads before others can go to near 100% or so with some others at less, a non-truly multithreaded title for eG,.. thats where you won't be hitting 144-165FPS, a CPU IPC bound scenario with only a few threads being utilized.

It has the IPC for so many titles, four cores can still be great, but frametimes,.. when looked into, makes all the difference in the world.

i7 4770/4790K's are not that expensive also,.. if dealhunting for say 3-6 months mindset of achieving the goal/savings.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

Assuming the game isn't insanely heavy on the CPU, it'll be fine.

That'll depend heavily on the game, and will be more tied to the GPU than the CPU.

I'm able to run some games easily with 200fps+ at 1440p with my i5 4690K and GTX 970. Have yet to find a game where the CPU is holding me back.

Specs: CPU - Intel i7 8700K @ 5GHz | GPU - Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming | Motherboard - ASUS Strix Z370-G WIFI AC | RAM - XPG Gammix DDR4-3000MHz 32GB (2x16GB) | Main Drive - Samsung 850 Evo 500GB M.2 | Other Drives - 7TB/3 Drives | CPU Cooler - Corsair H100i Pro | Case - Fractal Design Define C Mini TG | Power Supply - EVGA G3 850W

BF1 will hold you back

but yeah 1440p helps, and yeah most games are not very cpu demanding

Tho arma 3 is....

Well say goodbye to Arma 3 allowing such.

Everything else should be alright for 1440p 144 Hz with the i5 and the 1070, maybe, except for VRChat (I can't say the performance profile for the game, so I'll just say maybe).

Just expect random frame drops in Team Fortress 2 (or is it Titanfall 2?) because its optimization has really gone downhill since Jungle Inferno.

I want to downgrade, because I don't play that much.

The only game I play, it's the sims, Arma 3 (sometime), Vrchat (in vr), that's it.

So yeah, I think a 1060 will be a better choice.
